From the recording Omnia Improvisus Ad Infinitum
Feat. Todd Morrison-Percussion, Brody Wellman-Bass
Bottom of the Angry Sea started out as a banjo line that I tinkered with until I formed a full song. An instrumental version was recorded with my previous band Honky Suckle and released on our album Foul Waters. The song was only played live by the band a few times, and never felt completed. When I began creating as a solo artist, I wrote lyrics, and recorded this version with Brody. Todd is a long term friend and musical influence I've had the privilege of working with on projects of all sorts over the years.. His drumming captured the old world sound that folks often seem to hear in the song.
Lyrics
Lift me up. Don't let me fall
down into the drink. Sirens
sing their sweetest song just
to welcome me back to the
deep. Raise my sail.
Thought I’d prevail, but the
currents grabbed me. One
last breath is all that’s left
between me and the
bottom of the sea.
